Abby had a good Easter. Though we didn't go to church (for various reasons), we had a meaningful day still. We were supposed to have guests, but they canceled on Saturday. I already had my house cleaned and most of the meal prepared, so we ended up having a stress-free day to just enjoy our family.
I have always wanted to have Hot Cross Buns for Easter breakfast, so this year I finally made them. The kids weren't impressed, but Daddy and I thought they were pretty good. We then read the passion week from the Bible, answering the kids' questions as best we could. They ask some pretty good questions! Then we gave the kids their Easter baskets (though there is no Bunny in our house!).
It was cute to watch Abby looking through her basket. She just tossed the small toys and books aside in search of all the candy! She chowed down on the Peeps and jelly beans. I didn't originally buy Peeps, but when we were at the store Saturday, she saw them and said, "Oh, Mommy, Peeps!!" I don't even know how she knows their name unless she remembers from last year.
We did the Resurrection Eggs which we do every year, and then had our egg hunt. Since it is Oregon, we had to do the hunt indoors, of course. Abby was very excited about the hunt and did much better than I anticipated, even finding some of the higher ones that we put "up high" at Ryan's request!
Abby really enjoyed coloring eggs this year. She loves beautiful things, and thoroughly enjoyed turning our white eggs into beautiful colors! We didn't do it last year, and I doubt she remembers from the year before.
We watched the appropriate section of Matthew, The Visual Bible. Then we had our dinner, which Abby really enjoyed. It was a quiet day, but it was centered around Jesus, and that's what made it special!
