I just got off the phone with our pediatrician. He consulted with an infectious disease doctor to see if there were any other diagnostics he should run on Abby, and apparently the concensus is no. We are just going to wait a few more days, continue monitoring her blood sugar and watching her, and if the fever isn't gone on Monday, we'll bring her back in. She has absolutely no other symptoms except the high fevers (and erratic blood sugar, which we hope is only a side effect of her illness), so it's baffling as to what could be causing it. The only other tidbit he offered was that the longer this goes on the less the chances are that it is an infection. Viruses run their course in seven days and bacterial infections would manifest their symptoms in about the same period of time. He didn't say what it would be if it's not an infection, and I didn't ask. I'm taking one day at a time! She ate a little bit of lunch, which is a good since she's barely eaten anything all week.
