Stitch Removal

Abby's chin looked a little infected this morning, so I took her back to the urgent care for a wound check. We waited for 90 minutes again, but hopefully we won't have to go back. The doctor said it was probably best to remove the stitches, especially since the gash was pretty well healed together. The infection is minimal, but he gave her some oral antibiotics to help guard against it getting worse. Abby is also having a reaction to the latex or the adhesive in the bandages, so we thought it would be best to get her out of Band-aids as soon as possible.

So the doctor removed the stitches and put some tape on to hold it together for a few days more. Hopefully we can keep it dry for two or three more days and then it should be healed enough to remove all the bandages permanently. The scar looks better than it would have if we hadn't stitched it the second time, but it's still kind of rough looking. I bought some Mederma, and once the bandages come off I will start putting that on in hopes it will lessen the redness and thickness of the scar.
