This glazed-over look on Abby's face is a sure sign she's getting a little too much sensory input. She used to drool too when she was overloaded because she couldn't process all the stimuli, but she has now learned to control that apparently since I haven't seen it for a while. You can see she has a handful of sand, and she was putting her finger into that hand as she squeezed it, getting a real feel for the texture of the sand. She did this over and over for quite a while.
Finally, I suggested we go do something else, and she happily agreed. We went and found an activity that was heavily proprioreceptive so she could balance out all that tactile. She went a little "nuts" for a few minutes, but did eventually get "organized" through some jumping and crashing into some soft building blocks they had.
I am slow on learning what her needs are (they seem to change by the hour or even minute some days), but it makes me feel so good (and relieved) when I am able to figure it out and compensate. Maybe there's hope for us yet!

Like you said, her needs can change so often. It is wonderful that the Lord gives you what you need to figure out her needs and adjust things accordingly. She looks tired in this pic too. LOL. Having loads of fun on her little vacation!
Actually, it was fairly early on in the day (and the "vacation") so I don't think she was tired, but this is the funny look she gets when she's overstimulated. Weird.
