Getting Outside

After church on Sunday we decided to make a trip to the zoo. It was the first dry and sunny day we have had in quite a while, so we thought we'd get outside and enjoy it. It was still pretty chilly and the sun was intermittent, but at least it was dry!

We had an especially good visit with the Lorakeets this time. The last couple of times we've tried to see them we have either just missed them after they closed or they had just been fed and didn't want the nectar you can buy to feed them. Today though they were eager for the nectar and we had no trouble coaxing down a few of the birds to drink from our cups. Abby really wanted a bird to sit on her hand, but I think they must sense her slight nervousness because they just would NOT get on her hand. I had a couple on my hand and tried to shift them to hers, but they just wouldn't do it. At least she got to see them up close. They are so beautiful!

We also got to the rhino up close this time. He's usually way off in the back of his habitat with his back to us lying down, but he was up close and walking around today. He must have been enjoying the sunshine too!
