Morning at the Beach

Believe it or not, we live within walking distance of a fairly nice beach. It's not an ocean beach, but a sandy beach along the Columbia River. We have seen people parked at the railroad trestle that is the entrance to the trail leading to the beach but never walked down there to see what the big attraction was. When Grampa came in April, he took the kids for a walk and ended up down at the beach! Of course the kids have been wanting to go back, and this week I finally decided to take them. We packed up our gear and headed out.

It's about a quarter mile walk from the trestle, so I'm glad I drove that far (the trestle is about a quarter mile from our house) since we were lugging a Tonka bulldozer, a bucket of sand toys, and a huge tote filled with water, snacks, towels, camera, book for Mommy, and other beach essentials. We had the whole place to ourselves for the first two hours, and then slowly others began arriving. The kids played in the sand and water while I took pictures, read a book, and relaxed on a blanket. We stayed for several hours and then headed home for lunch. We will have to go back more often now that I know what's over there!

I don't know if you can see it or not,
but she's totally covered in sand from rolling in it.

Thanks! I actually ripped the idea off from a friend who takes some really cute pictures. I have one of Ryan too, but I haven't been able to finish that post yet.
