More Water Play Today

Yesterday was Abby's favorite kind of day, lots of time spent in the water. We went to a local beach park located on the banks of Lake Washington. It was the neatest park with a beach and swimming area (complete with lifeguards), a play structure, grass to play on and picnic areas to eat at. It was also landscaped beautifully and had some interesting local artwork.

Abby built a dribble sand castle and practiced her swimming in the lake. She also found shells and rocks and rolled in the sand to her heart's content.

We had lunch and went back to our room for naps. Abby fell asleep in record time (once again burying herself in pillows). I finally woke her up after 90 minutes (I usually don't let her sleep longer than 45 minutes) or who knows how long she would have slept! We got the kids back into swimsuits and went down to play in the pool for a while until Daddy finished his training for the day. Abby practiced doing somersaults in the water and "diving," which is basically her pushing off with her feet and floating across the top of the water.

Once Daddy got home we went to dinner and a walk around downtown. Abby was fascinated by some of the pieces of art we saw. We were going to find some geocaches, but our GPS wasn't cooperating. We took a drive to a couple of local parks, the kids played a bit, and then we went back to our room. We watched Into Alaska with Jeff Corwin, which for some reason both kids really liked. Then it was bedtime once again.
