Our search for a church in our new location hasn't been going very well. We recently had to move on from the church we had been attending and trying out for several months when it became clear that this was not where the Lord wanted us. Since it's Christmas and most churches are not having regular services, we decided to skip the search this weekend and have a family day. We took the kids out to our favorite breakfast place in our old neighborhood and then to see Charlotte's Web.
The book is one of my favorites, and I have read it aloud to the kids. They have also seen the older animated version of the movie, so they are pretty familiar with the story. We all really liked it, but Abby especially did, I think. She sat perfectly still in her chair throughout the whole movie, just eating her popcorn and enjoying the show.
I think the fact that she is so familiar with the story helped to keep her from being scared by Charlotte, who is a very real looking CG spider. (Not being a spider lover myself, she kind of creeped me out!) I think some children who don't know how benevolent and gentle Charlotte is might be scared by such a real looking, leggy spider taking up the whole movie screen! Instead, she said Charlotte was her favorite character.

Sounds like a fun and memorable way to spend a morning. I want to go see Charlotte's Web while Hannah is on vacation.
