Camping

Though we used to go camping quite frequently, we haven't been in almost four years so Abigail has never been. We decided it was past time to take her, and we headed up to Timothy Lake last week to spend four days and three nights in the great outdoors.

Abby ended up having a great time, but the first two nights were a bit difficult. She got hysterical the second night when we tried to put her to bed, presumably because she was just exhausted. The next day was fantastic though. We hiked for about three miles along the lake to a boat dock in another campground, and the kids splashed and played in the water. We ate lunch and hiked the three miles back to our camp. The kids were dragging (truth be told, so were Mommy and Daddy) by the time we got back, but we were so impressed with how well and how far they hiked!

The first day when we arrived it was raining and rained well into the next morning, but that was the end of the bad weather. We had near perfect conditions the remaining days, and it was almost like we had the whole place to ourselves. The camp hosts were the only other campers in our particular campground, and there weren't many more campers in the other three nearby campgrounds either.

Abby crashed almost the instant we got in the van to leave, and she slept for most of the ride home. Even though we had some rough times, we decided we're going to try to go at least one more time this summer.

How fun!!!! I'm ready to go camping again. I think this time around would be a lot easier since Rachel is walking. LOL.

Yeah, the last time we went camping was when Ryan was six months old and just learning to crawl! It was fun too, but it's easier now in some ways.
