Last Sunday we decided to take a drive up to Mt. St. Helens. It's only about an hour and a half away now that we have moved, and it's a really pretty drive. Abby was having a pretty difficult day, but she really enjoyed the movie about the 1980 explosion. She kept talking about this tree throughout the day. They built this exhibit around an existing tree trunk that had been left dead and sheered off in the blast 26 years ago. It is a huge trunk, so it's incredible to think about the force that broke the top off and killed it instantly! I think Abby thought the branches were kind of spooky though.
