Every year Abby and Ryan each put together a shoebox for Operation Christmas Child, a ministry of Samaritan's Purse. This is the first year that I think Abby has really understood a little bit of what we're doing. Both kids helped me pick out the items to put into the boxes, and then this evening we assembled them both and prayed for the little girl and the little boy who would be receiving the gifts. This is a great ministry, and I look forward to doing the boxes each year.

How funny to be reading this post! I decided a week or two ago, that Hannah was old enough to understand doing the shoeboxes this year. Didn't do them last year as we were recooping from Rachel's 1st surgery and our new church doesn't do them, so I plain forgot.
But we were going to head to Big Lots after I pick up Hannah from school to start on a shoebox or two. And then since our church doesn't do them, I'll take them to Harvest to turn in.
I'm glad Abby enjoyed doing it. When I explained to Hannah that we were going to do a shoebox and fill it with presents for poor kids, she got scared. LOL. I'm always telling if she doesn't pick up her toys, I'm going to give them to the poor kids. She thought I meant her toys, not new things. LOL.
LOL...Ryan had the same thoughts too!
We got 90 percent of our things at Dollar Tree, including this adorable teddy bear. It is soooo soft and cuddly. We did get a few things at Target too, but it was fun shopping for the boxes. Enjoy!
We have a Dollar Tree near us now, and I LOVE it!!! I thought I'd go there too. Needless to say, we didn't make to Big Lots yesterday after school.
That looks like a huge box! Is it a shoebox size?? or does it just look huge sitting on Abby's lap?? LOL
Well, it's kind of bootbox size. I just couldn't squeeze the bear and the doll and the other goodies into the smaller box. I've seen other people use that size, so I went ahead and did it. I hope it's not a problem.
