We went to Tacoma on Friday to see Ed's Mammaw in the hospital after having surgery Thursday. We decided to spend the night, and we took the kids to the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium on Saturday. It's a small zoo, but it's really nicely laid out and has goregous habitats for the animals. They also have a really fun Kid Zone with things to climb on and a petting zoo, etc. Abby was kind of crabby (very unusual for her, especially at the zoo!), but overall they had a good time.
One of the things I thought Abby would love was the "petting" tidepool exhibit, but I was surprised at how hesitant Abby was to touch the starfish and urchins and things in the tank. She's normally pretty adventurous, but she seemed a little spooked at first. Another interesting thing we saw was them feeding the sharks. They have 22 sharks in their tank, along with some other large fish, and it was neat to be eye level while these sharks ate!

That does suprise me that Abby didn't want to touch the things in the tidepool. Hmmm. Sounds like a fun family outing, despite Ed's Mammaw in the hospital.
