Developmental Progress

It took Abby about six months before we began to see personality and vibrancy in her. One day my husband came home from work and said, "Who is this little girl?" Seemingly it happened that day, as if a light just went on inside her and she was interacting with her world and us. From that day forward she has continued a rapid development.

In the course of the last two years she has had both physical and occupational therapy, has been diagnosed with Fetal Alcohol Effects and Sensory Integration Dysfunction, and has undergone lots of testing and prayer. Both courses of treatment are now finished for the time being, thankfully.

As of June Abby was tested and proclaimed developmentally on target! Though she still has some challenges ahead of her, she has progressed to the point of a "normal" two-year-old in cognitive and motor skills. She continues to amaze us with her tenacity and free spirit, and scare us with her daredevil exploits. The best news we got at her last appointment was that we don't have to come back until she's three! Yippee!
